Comfort Items for Cars, Planes, Boats and More
Comfort comes in many forms, although the two most popular for traveling is stuffed and inflatable. Here we have information on both of those types categorized into the four most important areas to keep comfy while traveling.
Posterior
As most of your journey you will be sitting we thought it would be the best place to start in talking about comfort items. No matter how comfy a seat may seem at first, they all take there toll over time. Because all transport doesn't have the budget to make it as comfortable as it can possibly be it doesn't mean you cant invest in something for yourself.
For an inflatable seat you needn't spend far over £5. These are great as they are easy to store and can be put in a bag or glove compartment without too much trouble. The benefit of this is that you can also take it to sports events or picnics to add comfort to hard seats.
A good foam filled pillow will bump up the cost a fair amount but the price is well worth the comfort it brings. At around £35 these are usually waterproof making them excellent for boats or outdoor trips and the addition of a handle means they are easy to carry around places like airports where the seating is often unforgiving and lengthy.
Back
The second thing we agreed to be the thing to start aching is the back. We found products around the internet from £1 upward making it the cheapest comfort item we found.
A pound will buy you an inflatable back support which makes a great side kick to the inflatable seat cushion. At that price you can afford to treat your fellow travel mates! From there you have many choices of foam filled pillows to make. Small back supports are available from around £20 which are adjustable so you can shape it for optimum comfort. You can also get larger supports for a few pounds extra that cover much more of the back for additional support.
Lumbar rolls seems to be the most popular items giving best support and comfort to the lower back. From a pound for inflatable versions these will help you keep a good posture and a happy back with foam models in the higher price bracket (£20) providing that little extra back conformity.
Those really looking for a treat should get the massaging option for car seats. These can strap round the seat and with a noduled support and the addition of batteries will help melt away the traveling tension.
Neck
Tension seems to work its way upward after being seated for prolonged periods, so it makes sense that after the back, the neck is the next victim. These fit around the back of the neck and act as a pillow. If you haven't got anything to lean on these are ideal.
Inflatable neck pillow start from about a pound and the joy is when your not traveling they can be used for additional comfort in many other places including the bath!
These of course have a foam compatriot with many options, including design patterns and material. The most comfortable ones we found were sheep skin covered, and at around £20 makes it an essential!
Head
Everyone's been in a car, bus or plane and needed to get some sleep only to find that the window is unforgiving and slippy and you use your coat as a make shift pillow. You can now however get inflatable window sleep pillows that will grip to the glass and with its wedge shape give you a perfect angle to rest your head without having to support it with your hands.
Ears
As a final mention, a good set of re-usable and easy to clean ear plugs will help in busy situations when you need a moment to yourself. Put them in and shut your eyes and enjoy a moment of isolation.
